Hello to the Enigmatic XMAS week again! Today we are going to talk déco. Because even if you are not one of those people who use to make a tree or don’t have one, you have no excuse for decorating (even a little) your house for the season. That is why I will show you some super affordable ideas to make your own decorations. I already made an article a few days ago about 10 projects and activities to do in this time of the year and some of them are DIY decorations, so you might want to check this out after you read this article.
So when I did my Christmas tree this year, I wanted to keep it light, not over charge it as we all tend to do when we open the decoration box. We use all these decorations only at that time of the year so we tend to put all of them on. My suggestion for decorating a great tree is to stick to a theme: you might want at the beginning to select two colours and not put any other colour more. And also choose the “style” you like: for example chic, rustic, pastel, …
My theme was red and beige, and I really like rustic decorations like if they were homemade. So cute! But personal style, so of course choose what you like the most!
- The first idea is to put on the tree your advent calendar. You just have to put your gifts into mini bags like I did and hang it on! The cool thing is that you can choose the color of your bags to go with the theme. And you can do them however you want.
- The second way to decorate your tree is by doing some really chic and futuristic looking Origami hangers. You just have to take some paper (squared of course), choose an origami tutorial on how to fold your figurine and then hang it on with some transparent string! I personally did some birds because I thought this was a cute idea as they were hanging (or flying). Here is a step by step tutorial of my origami.
- Make your own ornaments following this tutorial I made with very cheap materials.
Here are for you some ideas of how you can decorate your own tree and some photos of how I decorated it.
I hope you had some inspirations for your tree or home, and if you already decorated for this year, you can still save this for next year! See you tomorrow with an other episode of the Enigmatic Xmas week! Love you, Marie
